HAMILTON Wednesday 3 September, 2014: Brisbane’s Cavendish State High have shed the ‘Bridesmaid’ tag with a watershed 4-0 win over Hunter Sports High in the Bill Turner Cup final today at Darling Street Oval.
After being twice runners-up, in 2009 and 2013, the Cav Road lads won the coveted Bill Turner Cup now in its 36th year.
Dane Ingham scored a brace while Jack Sharples and Sam Ball both found the back-of-the-net in a pulsating finale to another outstanding tournament.
Ingham, originally from sunny Ballina, was named Player of the Finals while Hunter’s Jed Hornery, a member of the Mariner’s Academy, was rewarded for his stellar efforts with the Player of the Series Award.
Both coaches were glowing in their praise for their players efforts.
