Bill Turner Trophy (Girls) – match report
HAMILTON Wednesday 3 September, 2014: THE Hills Sports High have lifted their first Bill Turner Trophy with a 1-0 win over Hunter Sports High at Darling Street Oval, Hamilton South today.
Having been runners-up in 2005, 2007 and 2012 the victory was especially sweet for the Hills District Sports High School.
“It was a brilliant game and I thought both teams were good playing two games in two days,” Hills coach Alen Stajic said.
“We had probably five or six chances and Hunter had certainly two or three in the second half, they could have put one or two away.
“A great contest and the level of football from Hunter, Westfields (and our girls) was some of the best in the 10 or 12 years I have been here.”

A 19th minute strike by Bethany Gordon sealed the much deserved victory over last year’s champions.
“We had a massive game yesterday against Westfields (Sports High a 3-1 win) and I think there was a few tired legs in the first half,” Hunter coach Ash Wilson said.
“The second half they came out and turned it around a little bit unlucky they didn’t pull a couple of goals back.
“Hills are a strong team right across the field … both teams put on a great show.”
