Bill Turner School Football Incorporated and News Corp Australia have forged a partnership to Live Stream, on the KommunityTV platform, four major events in 2022.

Following on from News Corp’s very successful live streaming of the 2021 Queensland State Finals, of both the Bill Turner Cup (Boys) and Bill Turner Trophy (Girls), coverage has been expanded to include the 2022 Hunter Region Cup finals, Queensland State Finals, Northern NSW Finals in Coffs Harbour along with the National Finals in September at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, Speers Point (Lake Macquarie City).

Background

The Bill Turner School Football High School, for students 15-years-and-under, knock-out competitions are contested by schools from Cairns to Melbourne across the football federations of Queensland, Northern NSW, NSW, the ACT and Victoria.

The very first Bill Turner Cup was played in 1979 with the Bill Turner Trophy, then under the banner of CHS, first contested in 1991.

“Over the years the Bill Turner School Football competitions have evolved to the point where the competition is held in high regard in the Football community and is recognised as one of the largest team sport competitions in the world,” said Lloyd Turner, son of the late Bill Turner OA.

Subscribers of News Corp Australia’s state-based and regional mastheads have access to KommunityTV while non-subscribers to News Corp’s mastheads are able to subscribe at: KommunityTV.

“We are so pleased to expand our partnership with News Corp to offer high quality live streaming of these important matches,” said Lloyd Turner.

“At this stage of the competitions, the games are of a high standard and well worth watching.

“Year after year we see star players, both in the Cup and Trophy, who progress to the highest level.

“Live Streaming of Bill Turner School Football major events will allow parents, families, school and football communities unable to attend the matches, to watch and read about these competitions.”

KommunityTV is the evolution of News Corp Australia’s growing live sport streaming program, creating a dedicated destination on News Corp’s platforms for audiences to read about and experience community and grassroots sports.

“This is an opportunity for community sporting organisations to improve their overall exposure in the local and wider community, but also a chance to bring those communities closer together,” said Michael Wilkins, News Corp Australia’s managing director – News Sport Network.

“It’s not just about the vision, but the stories about our future sport stars that our sport network, the biggest in Australia, will bring to life.”
