From the Canberra Girls Grammar school website:

The Bill Turner Trophy is an annual nationwide inter-schools football competition. It starts in April and finishes with the September grand finals.

The Bill Turner Trophy is a knock-out competition and the 2013 CGGS team have just won the ACT/Southern NSW regional final and are now in the final 32.

We played the regional final on Friday 21 June at the Deakin stadium in perfect weather and pitch conditions against our visitors from Moruya. On the day, the CGGS passing, ball possession and speed were too strong for the opposition and we finished 8-2 winners.

The goal scorers were Olivia Fogarty (2), Nicki Flannery (4), Anabel Laing (1) and Harriet Fitt (1).

The past three wins have given the CGGS squad a really good base to now take on the winners from the other regions. This year’s squad is a strong blend of players from years 7, 8 and 9 and who have come together from different school and club teams.

The squad spirit is high, with hopes and expectations to match.

There are five rounds to go which includes the grand final and we’ll start that journey after the July school holidays.

CGGS will now travel to Albury to compete on 1 – 2 August to make the top 16. We wish them the best of luck!
