An entertaining match that was end to end for the most part – both teams had chances with their respective defences standing tall.

The match was locked at 0-0 at the end of regulation time. Daniel Leck proved the difference, from the penalty spot, 16minutes into Golden Goal extra-time.

Bill Turner Trophy Final
KIRWAN SHS (Townsville) 2 (Talita Robertsonn-Alfred 56m; India Kubin 70m Golden Goal) beat ST PETER CLAVER COLLEGE (Ipswich) 1 (Alyssa Clark 38m).

Kirwan have a long trip ahead of them to get to the National Bill Turner Trophy Finals Series after their Golden Goal 1-0 victory over St Peter Claver College.

Some great football was on display in the Queensland Trophy Final with this match also decided with a Golden Goal after the game was 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

St Peter Claver led 1-0 at the 38minute mark through Alyssa Clark’s goal but Kirwan levelled at the 56minute mark when Talita Robertsonn-Alfred found the back of the net.

India Kubin sent Kirwan to the National Finals with her 70th minute strike.

Kirwan coach Caitlin Cornish will have plenty of travel arrangements to make to get her team from Townsville to Newcastle for the finals. Hear her thoughts.

St Peter Claver coach Greg Farrell although disappointed at the loss was upbeat about his side’s efforts. His post match interview here.
