Recently all thirty-two competing countries named their squad for the upcoming World Cup in South Africa. Two former Bill Turner Cup players have made it into the national squad for South Korea.

Jung Yueng Ki, who plays for Celtic in the Scottish premier league, has been selected in the South Korean midfield. Jun Seob Song has also been selected as an interpreter and assistant to team trainer Raymond Verheijen. Both these players competed in the Bill Turner Cup in 2004 and 2005, for John Paul College in Daisy Hill, Queensland, and won the Cup in back to back years.

Mr Matthew Crameri, football director at John Paul College, says the school has a yearly intake of South Korean students, who appreciate the broad sphere of education – including top level school football – that is offered at the College.

The Bill Turner Cup team congratulate these players and the current and former football staff at John Paul College.
