The Hills Sports made it two from two for the school with a 4-1 win over Westfields Sports to join the girls side in the finals on Wednesday (5 September).
Newcomers Maribyrnong Secondary College, from Melbourne’s Footscray area, accounted for John Paul College 3-1 in the second semi-final.
The Hills Sports, with both the boys and girls teams in the finals, have the opportunity to join Westfields Sports (1995 and 2010) and Hunter Sports (2007) who have won the double – Bill Turner Cup and Bill Turner Trophy.
The Hills Sports opened their scoring through Kosta Petratos in the 16th minute while Mitchell Gibbs doubled the advantage four minutes on.
Westfields Sports reduced the lead to 2-1 nine minutes (39th minute) after the half time interval but Jak O’Brien (41m) and Sylvester (46m) added the extras for The Hills.
Making their way to the finals series for the first time Maribyrnong took the game to Logan’s (Queensland) John Paul College with three well executed goals: Ardian Vuniqi (7m) and Damian Rastocic (25th and 54th minutes).
John Paul College scored through Young Kyun Cho on the stoke of half time to close the gap to 2-1 but Rastocic’s 54th minute strike sealed the berth in the Cup final.
