To Bill, Lindsay & David Dunne
We wish to thank you for your continued support and help over the past few months. whislt our teams may not have made the final series I am sure the quality and professionalism of the teams that have made it this far, will only enahnce the Bill Turner Soccer Cup & Trophy final series. Bendigo South East College would also like to thank all the coaches and support staff that we have met along the way from all over NSW and Victoria. Best of luck to all teams that have made the final and we look forward to 2010 and maybe a Victorian team might make it to Newcastle.

Jan,
On behalf of the Bill Turner organisation I”d like to thank you and Ernie for all your efforts this year. Your cooperation and enthusiasm was wonderful. Congratulations to both Bendigo teams on their great runs this year and yes, we also hope to see you one day at the Final Series in Newcastle.

2009 Bill Turner Trophy report states Westfields Sports Keeper as Georgina Rowntree, her name is Georgia (known as “MOUSE”) Rowntree. Could you please correct, thankyou. Another fabulouis two days of exciting and talented school football , and again you turned on great weather. As a parent it is great to see children playing and representing their respective schools in such a wonderful way. Thankyou again, Gayle .

Thank you Gayle – this has been corrected.

Hi Lindsay,

Iam the coach/teacher at St.Albans Secondary College in Melbourne. We have a succesful U’14 soccer team which just won the State school association last week. We often travel to Futsal comps around Australia, but we are thinking of turning our attention to Soccer for next years U’15 Bill Turner Cup.
I noticed there was two or three country victorian teams that played off before they played the NSW teams.

Could you send me any relevant information on the cup, including expected dates and when/where we would have to travel?

Regards

Looking for the venue for the east syd on 8-4-11. Also what time will the match be played?

Adam

8 lloyd 02.22.11 at 10:43 pm

Hi Adam, Thanks for your question. Matches are organised by the schools involved. Games need to be played by the final date of each round. For more information, you can read the rules, which explain the procedures in more detail. Cheers, Lloyd

9 Ayman Hill 05.07.11 at 6:55 pm

what happens if a team does not play before the date specified?

10 lloyd 05.08.11 at 10:34 pm

hi ayman, thanks for your question. have a look at the rules, as this is covered with some detail. if you wanted to get some specific advice about your situation, the best thing is to contact the area manager for your school. they will do their best to help work out the situation.

11 Milena Dunn 06.01.11 at 9:46 pm

Hi Lloyd,

On the website page for the Bill Turner civic reception does it have the correct date? It may have last year’s date as it still refers to Tuesday 9th September,

12 lloyd 06.05.11 at 11:09 pm

thanks Milena, that page is now updated.

13 troy baylis 08.21.11 at 11:03 am

i did win the Bill Turner cup for Cardiff High and can not find any history for past winners..

14 Lindsay 08.22.11 at 7:21 am

Will ask Lloyd Turner about this. Do you have a photo of the winning Cardiff team, preferably with names, as we wish to create a ” Remember When?” section for next year.

19 kara 05.16.12 at 10:25 am

what is the under 18 football comp in high school called. It used to be puma cup but what is it now, and does it have a website?

20 Lindsay 05.16.12 at 12:48 pm

Kara,
The CHS competitions’ new names are the Errea Cup (boys) and Errea Trophy (girls). If you google Errea Cup and then click on chs news you should reach their website.

23 MICHAEL CAPILLI 04.12.13 at 2:17 pm

Hi Lindsay,

we’ve had a hiccup where we didn’t pick up there were no nooklets being sent out and have missed games. Is it possible for you to set up a system to email reminders to Coaches/Managers. So many of us are now so used to email communication that we miss things if we don’t get those reminders. maybe you could set up entries on the site as well.

thanks,

michael

24 lindsay hewison 04.12.13 at 3:43 pm

Michael,
This is the third season there haven’t been booklets so we would expect coaches to realise this by now. If you look under downloads you will find the entry forms are on the website already. As Summerland have played in the last three seasons it would appear to us as though you knew all this particularly as all schools were continually notified for the first two years.

25 Jill lyddiard 06.15.13 at 6:44 pm

As a concerned gran I was wondering why the results show Warners Bay Girls team as losing when they have actually won their games

26 lindsay hewison 06.15.13 at 7:32 pm

Jill,
The website only has results from the main draw. Warners Bay lost their only match in this part of the competition. Whilst we know they have done well in the Plate Competition for first match losers, this is an unofficial competition which is not played in all areas.

27 Jill lyddiard 06.16.13 at 11:12 am

Thanks Lindsay for the explanation, much appreciated Jill

29 Troy baylis 05.24.14 at 12:07 am

Hi can you please contact cardiff high school as I was a part of a winning cup side and I would love to see a photo uploaded on your site.thanks Troy 0417692566

30 lindsay 05.25.14 at 8:02 am

Troy,
Do you have a copy of the 1986 Cup winning team or any of your former team mates ? Unless there was a school yearbook there is no chance of Cardiff High having a photo. Even if there was a yearbook, many schools do not keep them that far back. It’s a problem of space.

31 Terry Hampton, 07.22.16 at 9:47 am

It is with great sadness I pass on the news of the death of Dudley Lewis. Dudley was a keen member of the BTC family for many years. I would like to pass onto Kay and her family our best wishes at this difficult time.

32 david 09.12.17 at 8:28 pm

is there a bill turner for seniors

33 lindsay hewison 09.22.17 at 3:32 pm

No. In NSW there is the CHS KO, the Combined Catholic KO and the Combined Independent Schools KO for seniors. Victoria have their own state KO for all schools. I don’t think ACT and Queensland have something similar.Queenland State Manager, David Donaldson, would know.

34 Luke Jones 09.20.18 at 11:11 am

Hey Lindsay, can u let me know about entries for 2019 BTC

35 lindsay hewison 09.25.18 at 12:14 pm

2019 entry forms will be Emailed late October. What school are you from, so I don’t miss you?

36 sharon Brown 01.31.19 at 2:36 pm

Hi Lindsay can you please send me a form so I can enter our girls into this years comp.
cheers

40 Clay Urquhart 02.10.20 at 7:55 am

41 Dave Beard 02.25.20 at 9:32 am

Hi Lindsay,
Coulkd you send an entry form for kempsey High so we can register our team.

42 Andrew Grunseit 03.02.21 at 2:11 pm

Hi,
For some reason we can’t seem to access the draw for Sydney north girls. (It stops at Central Coast in the list). Can you please send a copy or let me know who Barrenjoey high School is playing in their first rounds.
Thank you

43 cameron hall 03.10.21 at 9:31 am

Hi Lindsay (Noel for NNSW) and all associated with Bill Turner

I have an email and phone call chain dating back to the 1st of December asking our sports organiser here at Kurri Kurri HS to enter us in this competition (which we have been left out before)
While they continually say yes its been done, i assume either the correspondance (signed mail) or cheque hasn’t arrived…. and we are not on the website as in the Upper Hunter draw. Can this be rectified directly by myself, as i’m increasingly frustrated by looking at the draw and seeing we are not there….

44 Dorian J 08.24.22 at 2:43 pm

Hi All, The BTC & BTT was established to foster fair competition between high schools. The establishment of Specific Sports Colleges in recent years has significantly swayed the scales away from normal non-scholarship high schools to these Sports Colleges. These Sports Colleges of course now dominate the BTC & BTT as can be seen from this years finalists. 3 of the 4 in the BTC are Football aligned Sports Colleges. I do not believe this is the fairness & good completion that was originally intended by Bill. Should Sports Colleges be excluded next year?? Just starting the conversation.

45 lindsay 08.29.22 at 9:49 pm

There is a slight problem in your argument J Dorian. Unlike the CHS competition which is limited to NSW, in case you haven’t noticed our competition stretches from Cairns to Melbourne. Many of the “normal” schools in Queensland also have programmes and are not labelled sports high schools, as are many of the Victorian schools, so how do you suggest that we weed them out as well? The best we can do is to collect the majority of the sports highs in one group but eventually the winner of that group, will enter the main competition. Things are so different from when Bill founded the competition. We spent an enormous amount of time this year trying to give schools an opponent of similar ability in the early rounds but eventually they came up against teams of better ability in later rounds. Don’t think that this only affects us. CHS and Independent KOs are similarly affected and it won’t be long until the Catholic KOs are as well.

46 Dorian J 09.04.22 at 11:57 am

Hey Lindsay, I agree it’s really hard to organise these Sports Academy Schools to compete on a level playing field with “normal” schools. The Xavier Ballina v Hunter Sports Academy QF (9-0) was just embarrassing and demoralising for the Ballina boys. Hunter having 5 FFA A or B License coaches on staff and majority players Newcastle Jets A-League scholarship students against a school teacher coach and non-scholarship boys was like Dubbo FC competing in the Premier League, as the score line showed.

47 Izabela rudol 03.01.24 at 10:37 am

Hi
Just wondering if the draw is set in Stone as we are from Carroll College and lining up to play Trinity the first second round. As both of these teams made it to the top 32 last year it would be more appropriate that they don’t play each other right away????
